FFA Bowling Night will be April 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 at Spare Time. FFA members will need to pay for their shoe rentals ($4).

April 13 - Tarleton Area CDE - Dairy Judging
Ag Barn News:
April 8 - Barn Access Key Cards are to be returned by. There will be a $25 per card charge for each lost or non-returned card.
Pens are to be thoroughly cleaned, smoothed out, and all personal equipment should be out by April 8.
April 26 & 27 - Barn cleanup workdays will be from 5-7:30PM each day. If you kept an animal at the barn, you are required to be there for at least one full workday.
Message from the PHS FFA Boosters:
The PHS FFA Booster Club is looking for more parents to join us in supporting our hard-working kids this year. The Booster Club was almost forced to disband due to a lack of members, but these kids deserve our support. The Booster Club meets at the same time and place as the FFA student meetings. It's a convenient way to be informed, be involved, and help support the program. The Booster Club is responsible for several fundraisers throughout the year, but we need input, ideas, and participation from other parents. There's a lot of information shared at the Booster Club meetings, so it's a fantastic opportunity to get caught up on upcoming events, projects or just reach out for advice for upcoming shows. You don't need to have any experience with FFA or Ag programs in the past to make a major contribution. At the next meeting, we're planning to do the official transfer of power from the Booster Club officers from last year to the new officers for this year. This would be a great time to meet the parents organizing the Booster Club this year. I cannot stress the importance and the impact of parent involvement for the FFA chapter. The students are doing the hard work, so let's help them succeed!
New Agriculture Facility Update: Since we have been in a semi-virtual environment, some of you may have not been able to keep an eye on the construction of PHS' new agriculture facility. The new agriculture facility is being constructed in the old wrestling room/weight room which is located behind the current Agriculture portables. This new facility will have 2 classrooms, 2 restrooms, a storage room, a large shop area that will be used by the agriculture classes, and a covered outside area for animal demonstrations and care. We are very excited to have a dedicated area for agriculture education on campus and we are very grateful for the voters and supporters that helped make this a reality from the bond that was passed a few years ago.
2021 Rabbit Alternative Show- CONGRATULATIONS TO CADEN CRANE, D'MARION SPELLER, AND SAMANTHA DEZEEUW!!! Caden won GRAND CHAMPION!!! D'Marion was 3rd place and Samantha was 8th place!!! Great job to everyone involved! A huge shoutout to Tracey Cortez who is an Ag teacher at Juan Navarro High School in Austin for his efforts and coordination to make this event possible.
2021 Virtual Youth Fair- CONGRATULATIONS TO GABRIEL GAGNON and ANNA LANFORD!!! Gabriel won 2 Grand Champion awards for his foliage and succulent/cactus plants! Anna Lanford also won Grand Champion in quilting with her 4-H Club!

How much do parents pay for show animals?
One of my friends asked, "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to show animals?" Well I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kids to show animals
So, if I am not paying for them to show, what am I paying for?
- I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't.
- I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go the barn but go anyway.
- I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined.
- I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body.
- I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates.
- I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't win what they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the grading.
- I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals.
- I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight.
- I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships.
- I pay so that my kids can be in the ring instead of in front of a screen...
...I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for show animals, I pay for the opportunities that showing provides my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far, there is no greater investment out there.
